LAS VEGAS - South Point Arena will support Cox Charities by donating $3 to the local charity program for every ticket sold to Championship Bull Riding (CBR) tour’s South Point Vegas Challenge on Saturday, April 13.
“South Point is home to a vast lineup of amazing rodeo events, and this partnership with Cox Charities allows us to capitalize on one of our top annual events for the benefit of the Las Vegas community,” said Ryan Growney, South Point general manager.
Cox Charities is the charitable-giving arm of Cox Communications which is committed to improving the quality of life for Southern Nevada children and families through employee giving grant allocations and community partnerships. The employee-run initiative supports local children, families and education - with a focus on STEM initiatives.
“To date, Cox Charities has awarded nearly $1 million in grants to local organizations,” said Mike Bolognini, Cox Las Vegas market vice president. “We love aligning with groups such as the South Point and CBR to provide even more support for the Southern Nevada community.”
This year’s Championship Bull Riding South Point Vegas Challenge, presented by Boot Barn, will showcase only the top 24 riders in the world to compete during three rounds of an “8-second formation” competition. The tour will include all-star rider and newly crowned 2012 CBR World Champion Josh Barentine, current PRCA World Champion Cody Teel and three-time PRCA World champion J.W. Harris. Guests will watch only the best riders as they battle it out for record-setting prizes and the opportunity to participate in the “The Road to Cheyenne CBR Tour Finale.”
Tickets for the South Point Vegas Challenge are currently on sale beginning at $20. Discount coupons are available at specific locations including Boot Barn, Cox centers and other South Point sponsor locations. About Cox Charities
Since 2007, Cox Charities has awarded nearly $1 million in grants to Southern Nevada non-profit organizations that support children, families and education, with a focus on STEM initiatives. The program was created as a result of employees’ interest in the giving strategies of the company. Cox Charities is a partnership with United Way of Southern Nevada and is funded primarily by Cox employee contributions and a variety of fundraisers including an annual Cox Employee Golf Tournament. A committee, comprised entirely of Cox employees, reviews all grant applications and selects the recipients. The Cox Charities Advisory Board, also employee-led, approves the grants and awards the monies. For more information about Cox Charities, or to apply for a grant, please visit www.coxcharitieslv.com.
